Although there isn’t any type of law that requires medical assistants to be licensed, registered or certified, almost all of those health care workers choose to become certified. The biggest reason is the fact that most employers these days require medical assistant accreditation. Come to think of it. If you applied for a job at a certain hospital or clinic along with another applicant who is already certified, who do you think the employer will hire? Of course, they would go for the certified candidate.

You can liken the accreditation to the approval of the Food and Drugs Administration. Most consumers would go for food items that are FDA-approved instead of the ones that are not. This is because they are assured that those food items have passed the standards of FDA and are therefore safe to eat. This is quite the same when you are already a certified medical professional. You are basically showing your employer that you have high proficiency and that you are well capable to do the job.
